Now that I think about it that one word summarizes my entire existence…

CTFs#

I absolutely love CTF’s. Me and my team have won a lot of CTFs… but more than that almost every CTF I have participated in has taught me something new, stuff that I never knew even existed. I truly believe that these challenge authors live in a different plane of existencee. You can probably guess how excited I was when I had the oppurtunity to be one as well.

I had the amazing oppurtunity to organize two CTF competitions this year, one for my college and another for the DCG Coimbatore Chapter and oh boy was it stressful.

Was it worth it? Absolutely.

“It can’t be that hard”, I told myself. But then we had to deal with a myriad issues from hosting, challenge creation, physical infra and the biggest one of them all… people. Thankfully due to the amazing team I had we were able to conduct both CTFs successfully with little to no hiccup. (Both of them being different teams, but amazing teams nonetheless)

Digging Deeper#

My first priority is to stop procrastinating on pwn.college and get my blue belt! This has been on my bucketlist for quite a while and solving one challenge at a time, getting closer to my goal one step at a time is really fun and rewarding.

With all these AI models, I started losing my motivation to learn new things… For a period of time I also refrained from playing CTFs for the very same reason. Later I this post by lake which restored some of my faith. I realised that I had lost sight of my original reason and love for playing CTFs. Now I avoid using LLMs in CTFs and I play for a very simple reason, to learn!

Some topics of interest I want to get gud at in no particular order:#

  • more reverse engineering
  • Fuzzing
  • Active Directory pentesting
  • Web exploitation
  • Cryptography and Blockchain
  • eBPF exploitation
  • Website design

Although there are more things going on in my life, I’ll stop here. We don’t want to bore anyone do we :)
